Getting From Stansted Airport to Central London
Unfortunately, Stansted Airport is not that close to London but it is within reach of the exciting capital.
Trains from Stansted Airport to Central London
The Stansted Express runs from almost right inside the airport every 15 minutes except for between around 23:00 and 4am. It’s not that cheap, though. Expect to pay around £20 for a standard single ticket and round £30 for a return. You can save money by booking online.
The Stansted Express takes about an hour to reach London Liverpool Street in London. From there you can link to other trains in East Anglia or jump onto the London Underground. Two lines run here – the Circle Line (yellow) and the Hammersmith & City Line (Pink) so once you reach London Liverpool Street, getting around London is easy.

Getting to Central London from Stansted Airport By Bus
Travel by bus is a cheaper, but slower and less reliable, way of getting into central London. Several different coach companies operate out of Stansted Airport. You can find a full list here.

As it’s a long way out, taxis are expensive.
By Car
Only a fool or a local would choose to drive into central London. Traffic, the congestion charge, parking…Madness.

London Stansted Airport is one of the strictest on policing hand luggage regulations. There are weighing scales as you pass through security as well as those metal cages that check the dimensions of your luggage. You have been warned!
