If your name’s not down, you’re not coming in.

So says the European Commission for Transport, although they word it slightly differently. If you’re ever worried about the safety of your airline, a good rule of thumb is to check The List.

To use a European airport, airlines must satisfy the European Commission that they operate safely by complying with a number of rigorous and specific standards. Those who fail to do so cannot land within the Member States of the European Community.

If you ever find yourself having doubts about the great flight deal you’ve got, checking the list may bring you peace of mind. If their name’s ON the list, then fly another way.
